TOO MUCH?
I couldn’t maintain all the Platform/Tech details of all I had going on (zooms, marketing, finances, scheduling, etc.)
BECAUSE I HAD TOO MUCH GOING ON
Is it possible to have too many clients? In my passion for helping actors book more acting jobs that pay a living wage, was I ignoring my own needs?
Burn out is real, and so is having to deal with the tech and the COST of it all. The cost of keeping the whole machine running. (Plus, ZOOM sessions are oddly exhausting)
(GOD I miss In person offerings)
The same goes for the life of my clients. Can an actor/performer be doing TOO MUCH? ABSOLUTELY. Constantly scouring ACTORS ACCESS in order to self-submit for low to no budget projects, and then submitting and then waiting for an answer and then getting the material so you can send in a Self-Tape, is all a big waste of time and money. The only entity that is doing well in this madness is Actors Access.
Working a day job (or two) AND taking classes AND trying to make a film that will go to a film festival, AND marketing yourself on Socials. Madness.
All great things to do, but not all at the same time.
Is it possible to stream line what we do, for the sake of our mental health? Without proper mental health, we frankly have nothing but a typhoon.
I ‘m currently shifting my coaching business in a big way. I won’t just work with anyone who comes my way. I want to work with actor/performers who I think are extremely grounded, smart, hard working, and genuinely authentically talented. I don’t want to waste ANYONE’S time and money, as so many coaches are want to do.
I know how to find/spot/assess actors who are extremely talented. I was a Casting Director, for goodness sake! (And damn good at it.)
In making up my mind to do less and focus more on what I am really good at , I already feel myself calmer.
